Top Ten: Wallpaper Edition

When I think of wallpaper, my mind wanders to the wallpaper that used to be in my kitchen. It was brown, squishy and had pictures of wheat on it. However, I must say that wallpaper has definitely improved in the past decade and has lost it's bad rep. It's a quick and fairly easy way to update a room. It's also a great way to make a statement. Here are my top 10 favourite wallpapers of the moment:

1. Stamped Dot- Chasing Paper Wall Panels from West Elm:

psssst- West Elm has free shipping right now with code HIGHFIVE

2. Damsel Removable Wallpaper from Urban Outfitters:

I could picture this wallpaper in a walk in closet or a dressing room. It's very girlie and glamourous... Also it's removable!

3. Chasing paper wild removable wallpaper from Urban Outfitters:

I cannot get over how cute this wallpaper is. It would be so adorable in a baby boy's nursery!

Spoonflower is such a great resource for not only wallpaper but also fabric.

5. Orla Kiely Multi Steam wallpaper from Wallpaperdirect.com:

This Orla Kiely wallpaper is super retro and fun. If you haven't seen her stuff, go look!

6. Oodi Blue by Marimekko from Wallpaperdirect.com:

Wallpaperdirect.com is also an amazing resource. I love the use of wallpaper in a dining room.

7. Bottna by Marimekko from Wallpaperdirect.com:

This wallpaper looks so gorgeous here. I love the mix of the antiques with the modern wallpaper.

8. Great Meadow Mural from Anthropologie:

This wallpaper is great statement piece. It would be super cute in a kid's room or in any room really.

9. Sister's of the Sun by JUJU:

I love the shine to this wallpaper and the combination of navy and gold.

10. Pineapple (Ebony) by Rifle Paper Co.

I have a strong love for anything Rifle Paper Co. so of course I couldn't make a list without including wallpaper from them. This would be super nice in a dining room, like the Oodi Blue paper.

Kijiji 101

I am a total Kijiji junkie. I spend so much time browsing furniture on it. I recently discovered the Vintage feed, which is now my favourite thing to search. For anyone who doesn't live in Canada... Kijiji is basically our Craig's list (we also have Craig's list but it's not as popular). Kijiji is such a great resource for anyone wanting a great deal or anyone wanting to de-clutter their house and make a little money. So as a veteran Kijiji buyer and seller I thought i'd share some of my wisdom.

Selling on Kijiji:

DO: Price your item responsibly. I hate to break it to you, but you aren't going to get $800 for a ten year old used sofa, price your items so they will sell.
DON'T: Sell yourself short, you want to make some money. Unless you really don't care and just want the item out of your house.
DO: Include a picture in your listing. I don't think i've ever looked at a listing that didn't have a picture, what's the point?
DO: Take a clear picture in daylight. I've been eyeing up this dresser but because the picture isn't the best quality, I can't really tell what kind of condition the dresser is in.

(ps. if this is your picture, I apologize for insulting your photo. You have a beautiful dresser.)

DO: Stage your item, make it look appealing to buyers.
DON'T: Forget to write a description of the item, include the condition of the item, measurements, colour and some selling points like the original price. If it's an antique try to include the maker/approximate date it was made.
DON'T: Say call only. You might deter potential buyers. Including an email address is always a good idea.
DON'T: Let a person in your house if you feel uncomfortable. The same thing goes if you are a buyer, don't enter someones house if you don't feel safe. Meeting in public is always an option for smaller items.
DO: Move your large item to your garage (if you have one), it's easier for pick up. It's a good idea if you don't feel comfortable having people in your house.
DO: List items, even if you don't think anyone will want them! I listed a pool pump that I was going to throw away and I had 5 people respond in one day!
DO: Remove your ad once it's sold.

Buying on Kijiji:

DON'T: Be afraid to haggle. When i'm selling items i'll usually make a deal with the buyer. However don't make such a low offer that it's offensive.
DO: Bring cash and make sure you have the right amount.
DON'T: Waste the seller's time. Respond quickly to emails or texts. Ugh, I had a buyer who said they would come pick an item up one day and I waited around all day for them only to have them respond the next day saying they couldn't make it. Be respectful of the seller's time.
DO: Bring someone with you to pick the item up if you are picking it up from the seller's house. Just for safety reasons, or to help carry the item out (if it's big).
DO: Be polite. Seriously. If you are rude to me in an email I probably won't sell you the item.

Do you have any tips for selling on Kijiji or Craigslist? I'd love to hear them!

High Five For Friday

Happy Friday everyone! I've had a good week, despite the whole Target deciding to leave me thing. How dare you Target. Anyways here are my 5 highlights from the week!

1. I went to the fabric store on the weekend and I was really inspired by these fabrics... they made me hopeful for summer.

2. The main reason for my trip to the fabric store was to find material for an apron for my friend's super belated christmas present. This apron is pretty much the cutest thing ever.

3. I finally took my road test this week and passed! (I know, what kind of 22 year old doesn't have a licence). My mom bought me cupcakes to celebrate.

4. I found this book for $8. I'm super excited to try these recipes out because I love making mug cakes in the microwave.

5. Even though i'm very upset with Target leaving, my trip where I found the $6 lamp was a highlight of my week. I'm also loving these bar stools... maybe they'll clear them out for super cheap. Fingers crossed.

Pinspiration: Decorating with Coral

I feel like I might be a little late jumping on the coral bandwagon, however i'm really digging coral right now. It's such a bold colour, yet it's still inviting and warm. It's also such a versatile colour that can be paired with so many colour combinations.

So let's begin with Coral walls, Happy Interior Blog was able to contrast different shades of coral together to give the room a soft look. I also love that light fixture.

A coral feature wall is also a great way to get a pop of colour, like the one here.

Or you can just do a coral stripe like Mandy did here.

I love the pop of colour on the ceiling here.

Coral accents are also a great way to incorporate colour into a room. Coral desks seem to be pretty popular. This one was featured on A Beautiful Mess.

Or you could always incorporate a coral printed chair into your space, like the one here.

Coral is such a fun colour for a child's room, I love this bold bedroom featured on Apartment Therapy.

Coral and aqua nurseries are also super popular, I love this change table/ dresser that was featured on Project Nursery

Now lets take a moment to admire this door from House of Turquoise. I absolutely love this turquoise and coral combo.

Alright guys, I think that's enough coral for one day. Hope you have a happy monday!

Jennifer Loves Target

If there's one thing I love, it's Target. I've been looking for a lamp for weeks now and I saw this guy sitting all alone.

I picked it up and the tag said $12! I don't think you can even buy a lampshade for $12. I don't mind the blue cord, however I might swap it out for a different colour one day. Anyways, I took the lamp to the cash register and it rang up $6. Seriously. I love Target. I also went home with the cutest mug.

High Five for Friday

Happy Friday Everyone! I hope everyone had a great week. My week was very hectic so i'm very thankful that it's Friday already. The beginning of my week began pretty rocky, my boyfriend had to get his appendix removed so I spent quite a lot of time at the hospital.  I spent the rest of the week working (so exciting). I have a total of two pictures on my phone from the week ... which is super rare, I usually take a ton throughout the week. I don't even have five highlights from my week... that's how lame my week was. Anyways, I scrapped together a couple of highlights from my week, High four for Friday anyone??

1. My best friend went back home on Monday so on Sunday we went out for frozen yogurt (despite the minus 40 temperature) and then went bowling. I somehow managed to win.

2. I started a yoga class this week. I signed up for a 10am class... i'm definitely the youngest person there by about 20 years. Which is okay, because I feel like there's less pressure this way.

3. I ordered a polar FT4 heart rate monitor watch last week off Amazon so I was happy to see it arrive yesterday. Today I took it for a quick spin at the gym. The chest strap is a little tight but other than that no complaints!

4. I discovered the podcast Serial this week (I know i'm super late to discover it). I listened to all 12 episodes in about 2 days. I've told all my friends to listen to it, I need to discuss it with someone!! Also i'd really like to find another interesting podcast to listen to, please let me know if you have any favourites.

Anyways I hope that next week i'll actually have 5 highlights and I hope you all have a great weekend. Stay warm!

Current Obsession: Kate Spade Saturday for West Elm & Indigo

I'm absolutely obsessed with two brands right now; Kate Spade Saturday for West Elm and Indigo's new home arrivals. I'm drooling over here. Both brands have super fresh, fun and bright designs for the new year. Here are a few of my favourites from these collections that would brighten up any space this cold winter.
